Teach Japanese with Nakamura Study Japan

About This Vacancy

Nakamura Study Japan is hiring Japanese language teachers for classes in Medan, in Tangerang, and online. Our students are not learning Japanese as a hobby — they are going to Japan to study or to work, and they need someone who can get them from their first hiragana to a real conversation.

We have guided more than 1,100 students towards studying and working in Japan, and our classes keep growing. That is why a Japanese teacher is always needed here — whether you can take a full timetable every day or only have a few sessions a week to give. What you are paid follows what you can teach, and we say so plainly rather than hiding behind “competitive”.

The classes you would take are our Japanese courses, and you can read about the school you would be joining on our about page.

Positions

Three Ways to Teach With Us

Pick the one that fits your week — you can apply for more than one.

Full-Time Teacher

Rp 5,000,000–10,000,000 / month

Depending on the levels you teach

  • Medan or Tangerang office
  • Monday–Saturday, office hours

Teach regular, private, and group classes at our office — from JLPT N5 preparation through to pre-departure classes. The curriculum and materials already exist, so your first day is spent in front of a class.

Online Class Teacher (Freelance)

Rp 75,000–100,000 / session

Depending on the level and type of class

  • Anywhere in Indonesia
  • Flexible — afternoons, evenings, weekends

Teach online over Zoom or Google Meet on a freelance basis. The schedule follows your availability — a good fit if you live outside Medan and Tangerang, or want to teach around something else.

Part-Time Teacher

By agreement

  • Medan, Tangerang, or online
  • Based on the hours you take on

Teach a handful of classes a week, with the rate agreed together based on the hours and the type of class you take on. Many of our part-time teachers run it alongside university or another job.

Qualifications

  • Japanese at JLPT N3 level or above — N2 or N1 preferred
  • A JLPT certificate is not required; we assess your ability directly in the micro teaching session
  • A Japanese literature or education degree, a Japanese language school background, or time spent studying or living in Japan
  • Able to teach beginner N5–N4 levels; being able to take advanced levels is a plus
  • Patient, communicative, and comfortable teaching students from school age to adult
  • Fresh graduates are welcome — no teaching experience needed to apply
  • For full-time: willing to work from our Medan or Tangerang office
  • For online classes: a laptop, a headset, and a stable internet connection

What You Will Do

  • Teach Japanese classes (private, group, and online) using the Nakamura curriculum
  • Prepare materials and exercises, and mark student work
  • Coach students through JLPT preparation and school or job interviews in Japan
  • Track student progress and report regularly to the academic team
Why here

Teaching at Nakamura

What the job actually gives you, day to day

Your ability sets the terms

The levels you can carry decide the classes you teach and what you are paid for them. Teachers ready to take advanced classes sit at the top of the range, and we talk about that openly from the interview onwards.

A schedule you can shape

Take a full-time load, a few online sessions around your other commitments, or a part-time schedule agreed together.

The curriculum is ready

The syllabus, materials, and exercise bank already exist. You are not starting from scratch — your focus is teaching, not building a course.

Students with a reason to learn

Our students are learning in order to study, work, or live in Japan. There is a clear goal behind every class, and you feel it when you teach.

Connected to Japan

We work with schools, universities, and companies in Japan. Our teachers benefit from that network too, not only our students.

A team behind you

The academic team and your fellow teachers are there to talk through a class, a set of materials, or a student who needs a different approach.

FAQ

Questions Applicants Ask

What does a Japanese teacher earn at Nakamura Study Japan?

A full-time teacher sits in a band of Rp 5,000,000–10,000,000 a month, and freelance online classes pay Rp 75,000–100,000 per session. Where you land inside that band follows your Japanese, the class levels you can carry, and the hours you take on. For part-time teachers the rate is agreed together on the same basis.

Do I need a JLPT certificate to apply?

No. What we look for is Japanese at roughly N3 level or above, and we assess that directly in the micro teaching session. An N2 or N1 certificate is of course a plus.

Can I teach from outside Medan and Tangerang?

Yes, through our freelance online classes. They are paid per session and can be taught from anywhere in Indonesia as long as you have a laptop, a headset, and a stable connection. The full-time role remains based at the Medan or Tangerang office.

Can fresh graduates and first-time teachers apply?

Yes. We take on new teachers regularly and run a curriculum orientation before your first class. What matters more to us is your Japanese and how you explain things to other people.

Where is the job based?

Our head office is at Jl. Veteran No.128, Medan, and our branch office is at Jl. Quantum Raya No.9A, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. Online classes can be taught from anywhere.
